KENYA SEED LAUNCHES AN INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT SCHOOLS WITH READERSHIP UNDER THE NIE PROGRAMME.
Kenya Seed Company, a leading producer of top-quality seed, is set to launch the Newspaper in Education NIE programme led by the Managing Director Fred Oloibe on 28th June 2022. The programme, which is a partnership with the Standard Group, will be done in 3 counties. The counties are; Trans-Nzoia, Baringo & Uasin –Gishu and will run in 7 schools.
The programme seeks to improve the language skills of students, improve results, and raise their self-esteem and numeracy skills.
The company supports communities in Kenya for their well-being. Its focus is to improve the quality of life and ensure a good environment for quality crops at the farm as well as food security in the country.
In its drive to improve livelihood, some of the company’s CSR activities include; Construction of 8 classrooms at Mugeiyot Primary School, the construction of a water borehole at Muthara, the Donation of tree seedlings to schools and farmers, Support of needy students; currently supporting a student from high school and he is pursuing Bachelors in Medicine in Surgery among others.
“It’s no longer about just setting up schools; it’s also about supporting children in all ways to improve education in the country. Kenya Seed is honored to be part of this initiative for the better learning of students. We believe this is an excellent program to aid the students in better learning and understanding. Kenya Seed puts education at heart & part of its focus is in its CSR programme”, said the Managing Director of Kenya Seed Fred Oloibe.
The company allocates part of its profit every year after tax towards Corporate Social Responsibilities activities.
With over 60 varieties ranging from cereals, vegetables, fruits, pasture, sorghum, and lawn grasses among others, the company also wants to encourage the young generation into farming for a food-secure country in the future. THE 3RD KENYA SEED CLASSIC GOLF SERIES TO BE HOSTED AT NYAHURURU GOLF CLUB
Kenya Seed Company will host an exciting tournament with an expected turn up of 100 Golfers and farm enthusiasts who will participate in the 18th June 2022 tournament at the Nyahururu Golf Club. This is the 3rd Kenya Seed Classic Golf Series in 2022 after Eldoret and Kitale tournaments and happening for the first time in Nyahururu.
The tournament is not your average event as the participants will have an opportunity to interact and have a one-on-one conversation with experts in the seed sector and agriculture.
The company ventured into this initiative to meet our wheat, maize and horticulture, farmers. The event which will be led by the Kenya Seed Managing Director Mr Fred Oloibe, will award the winners with enticing prices at the end of the tournament.
Nyahururu farmers are one of our major maize and wheat customers. The wheat varieties offered at the company include; KS Mwamba, KS Chui, KS, Kanga, KS Nyotaa, Kwale, Eagle 10, and Njoro among others.
Kenya Seed will use this opportunity to offer farmers the right planting tips and the varieties to be planted per region as we network with them. This is towards the company’s effort of achieving the Big four agenda on food security and nutrition.

Kenya Seed Donates Sanitary towels to vulnerable needy Children in Trans-Nzoia

Kenya Seed Company Ltd plans to strengthen its support to Giving Hope to the Hopeless Organisation through donation of Sanitary towels for the young girls under their outreach programme. The donation, under the Company’s CSR program, will be handed over to the organisation on 21st July 2021.
Giving Hope to the Hopeless Organisation is a vulnerable orphaned child centered in Trans- Nzoia that is commited to providing basic requirements such as education, food, clothes, and sanitary pads for girls among others. The activities of the organisation through their outreach program aims at uplifting the lives of needy children in Wehoya area, sirende ward. The Organisation has orphans, widows and widowers who are beneficiares and come to the centre for help.
The organisation founders sought support from Kenya Seed Company. Their request was granted after realising the impact this would have on the community. This is after the company noticed the rising number of teanage pregnancy and school dropouts due to lack of sanitary pads. The donation is under the company’s CSR pillars on Education & Health

Agriculture, a key part of the Big Four Agenda, has been at the fore front of uniting stakeholders in both the National and County Governments.
This week, the various stakeholders in the sector will converge in Mt Kenya region to conduct farmer training and clinics and assess progress from previous work done in the region.
It is one of the areas where KSC seeks to expand its market reach and visibility acknowledging most of the population in the area practice agriculture as the main source of income.
Previously, KSC has had various successful projects in the region such as the Muthara Water Project in Tigania East, Meru County to enable farmers in the region have adequate water supply for consumption and farming.
Gains have been achieved through the establishment of Depots in Karatina & Meru Towns respectively enabling efficiency in supply of our products.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives in partnership with allied agriculture stakeholders facilitated through Kenya Dairy Board and Kenya Seed will hold a three day event in the region starting from 18th – 21st June 2021 to sensitize farmers on appropriate agro economic practices & modern ways of farming using certified quality seeds.
